Is there a way to increase the tab size without increasing the text size?

I am designing an interface that will be running on a touch-screen and I need bigger tabs.

MMmmmmm touch screen. Can't wait to experiment with one of those... Anyway, what you can do is use white space. Alternitavley... don't use the tabs in 8 and make fake ones.

Adding spaces will increase the tab width, but not the height. You could just enter a bunch of spaces in the tab control dialog, so your actual tabs would be blank; and then put the text labels on the layout as separate objects.
