I'm completely new to this forum so if I'm posting in the wrong place let me know.

As far as I can tell the [Outlook] e-mails that FP7 generates using the FM e-mail script are always in (non-convertible) plain text.

Is there any way to have the e-mails come out as HTML? Or is the solution to simply upgrade to FP8?

You'll need to use a third-party plugin to generate rich text emails. This applies to FMP 7 and FMP 8.

Look at dacons mailit or some other guys SMTPit

I have Dacons MailIt but I'd love to be able to EM from FP7. Oh vell

Come on... its not fair. Then again we do have IM... but that started as IM it was never I-Message. Lol, but then we have the full length "Snail Mail"... You can't just get rid of E-mail, that removes the thing in between... It's just not right... And besides EMP... electro magnetic pulse.. See, its taken, EM stands for Electrno Magnetic . Nah, just kidding, but it still weirds me out
