Contract Rates w/per diem included

Featured Replies

Could someone tell me -- ballpark figure -- what would be a range for a filemaker contractor working in Chicago, IL as opposed to working in Orlando, FL with a per diem so I know that would make the rate less. I have a possible contract position (Filemaker 6 work) and I don't want to underprice myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about "labor" rates, but this website will give you an idea about per diem rates for expenses. The rates tend to be low, but it does give you ballpark numbers.

I've worked contracts in Washington State, Tennessee, Florida, and now finishing up a contract in Indiana.

My first guess is that your would be about $60/hr. I've seen more from time to time, but if you are going through a head hunter, they typically take a pretty good-sized cut. The headhunters are also paying this rate for .NET, SAP, and Oracle developers.

The firm I currently conctracted through uses a number of Indians doing what use to be 'expensive' work for around $35/hr (working here in the states, on-site development).

Hope this helps...

Another side point- when making couter offers, ask for more per diem as opposed to more 'billing' rate. Since most of these contracts are fixed perdiem- it stillmore money to you- but they don't take taxes out of the per diem portion...
