June 24, 200619 yr I am having difficulty getting the Edit button to appear in formatting the layout for a list that uses two fields. When it does appear the "using value list" does not show the list name. When I change it to show the list name I have chosen, the edit button is no longer available. What am I dong wrong?
June 24, 200619 yr Not enough information, but I take a stab. If you are using [color:blue]TABLE View, buttons don't show when placed in the Body, and the Header disappears when switching to Browse. If you want the buttons to show in [color:blue]Browse Mode, you either have to change the Table View (Edit Layout) to include the Header, or make your layout a List View by creating a new one (i.e. Layout Mode >> New Layout >> List View) If this doesn't cover your problem, then try giving us more detail, attach a copy of your files, or both. June 24, 200619 yr Author I have defined a list in the Browse mode. I next go to the Layout mode and Choode "Field>Field Format", here I choose "Pop up List". I also wish to choose "Edit", however, Edit is not highligted for use. How do I get Edit to appear? Thanks!
June 24, 200619 yr Buttons, and Popup Menu are two different things, although you can make a button out of your Popup Menu, but that is a different question. A Pop Up Menu requires a Value List. Read the FileMaker Manual, or Online Help about creating a Value List, and How to attach it to a Popup Menu, Drop Down Menu, Checkboxes, or Radio buttons. Lee Edited June 24, 200619 yr by Guest
June 24, 200619 yr a list that uses two fields The "Edit..." option is available only for value lists using custom values. Value lists using values from a field are "edited" by editing the records on which the value list is based.
