mgm75 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 The proplem we are having is occuring using FileMaker 8 and Server 8 with windows xp, and windows2000 server (same problem in 2003 server) I will be in a database and FM will quit. When I go to open it back up it says Maximum Number of users are using this copy of FileMaker. I need to stop and start service to make it work again. Any ideas?
IdealData Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Firstly FM should not just simply quit on its own and it would not be surprising that the system still thinks it is running after it has failed. Make sure you're upgraded to 8.03 on both client and server - then try again.
Wim Decorte Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 When your FM app quits, it did not have time to inform FMS, so FMS still thinks you're connected and will not allow a new connection. I hope you're closing the files on FMS before restarting the service, otherwise you may risk damaging your files. There is probably no need to restart the FMS services, just use the SAT tool to disconnect your ghost connection and wait until it times out. You need to investigate what makes FM crash on your machine, that's not normal.
mikegfy Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Can you explain how this SAT tool works. I have clients who get the Maximum license for this user error and they are not in the list of people connected to the Filemaker Server. Usually if filemaker has a problem and closes, i can disconnect them from the server and they can log back in. But how do I disconnect them if they aren't in the list.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Take a look at the Servre Admin Guide or at the Server Tech Brief for information on the SAT Tool. How often do you restart your server? Steven
