summarizing information across several tables

Featured Replies

So, if I can't subsummarize a report based on a related field, how do I do show summarized information from several tables?

I need to show information about the current school year (table = activeYear which is the base table for my report layout). How do I summarize students and teachers by memberCode (table: activeYear),by school district (table: districts), by school level (table: schools), by school (table: schools), by ethnicity and by gender (table for both: persons)?

I know this is a very bare bones description of my problem, but I'm better at answering questions that at anticipating them.

You can subsummarize a report by related fields. It is the GetSummary function that will not break by related fields, not a summary report.

I see what I did wrong. I was using summary fields (TOTAL_male and TOTAL_female) from the PERSONS table, not from the ACTIVEYEARS table.

But doesn't this defeat the purpose of a relational db? If I have to have the same fields in more than one table?
