sal88 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 hi, i have a layout with a portal in it, it displays fine in layout mode. however, when i print it it always shows an extra record. the 'allow creation of new records' is unticked for the relationships. any ideas? thanks
Vaughan Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Don't print portals. Use the Go to Related Records script step to "find" the related records, then print directly from the related table in list view.
sal88 Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 and i will still be able to have the same layout? at present it has details in the layout outside the portal, for instance customer address, and within the portal it has the fields in a 'non list' format, so the fields are side by side as well as below each other.
Genx Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 No... unless you use exactly the same layout, but you should consider re-designing your layout to fit into smaller space when it prints.
sal88 Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 thanks, so is it possible to have a simple invoice layout without the use of portals? if so could you point me to where i could get an example. thx
Genx Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Not really, but i can point you towards a general subject to read up about: Reports, whole bunch of things that will help you produce professional looking invoices.
Genx Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 ...Well how professional they look depends on how well you lay it out as anything in FileMaker.
