July 4, 200619 yr When I enter a date in my data base I enter it as M/D/Y and it displays as M/D/Y. I sent and updated the database to my two co-workers (also Macs) and they are now forced to enter the date as D/M/Y but it displays as M/D/Y as it was set up. How did this happen and how do I correct this?
July 4, 200619 yr Date entry is a system setting, and date display if a Layout Setting in FileMaker. They need to change their system Date settings.
July 5, 200619 yr Author I did think of that but that does appear to be the problem unless I'm missing something. Everything was working properly for them until I updated and sent them the revised database. Noboby changed date settings. Date entry still works properly on my machine. I'm not a pro at this so I am perplexed.
July 5, 200619 yr Can you see these coworkers from where you sit, or are then in some other building, city, state or country? Post a copy of your file, of course strip any confidential data, but none of the dates stuff. Lee Edited July 5, 200619 yr by Guest
July 7, 200619 yr So that others will know what happened, EMPM sent me the offending file ONLY, the date was a lookup from a related file, so I could [color:red]NOT see what the other file was providing, as a Date field. The Date Format of the Files in the Current File wasn't available in the Layout Mode, which might have something to do with this problem. He offered to send me the other files involved, but went on to say this: I went back to your original suggestion and looked at system settings and changed the way the date is displayed as a custom setting. I then noticed that under format in Filemaker I can choose "Use system Settings". I selected this option under Format in Browse Mode and the problem corrected itself on my colleagues computers. However, on my desktop I don't have this option selected and everything works fine. I still don't understand what is going on or how it all happened but it is now corrected. I not sure why this worked either, and I posted it here to see if any one else could enlighted us. BTW EMPM [color:blue]I forgot to ask what version of Advance was being used? and [color:blue]If the files are being share? HTH Lee Edited July 7, 200619 yr by Guest
