Container fields not double-clickable

Featured Replies

Okay, I'm creating a very simple database (no cmplx relationships), with a single container field. I can click on the field and insert a document, no problem. But when I double-click on the document, nothing happens... no file launches.

Any idea why this is happening? It seems like the kind of elementary thing that should be in a FAQ somewhere, but I can't find it.

I would have thought this to be possible as well but i can not figure it out either. I would have also thought that you could "maybe you can", setup the container to open up the file browser dialog instead of the record sound menu when you double click an empty cell but i can seem to figure out how to do that. Appreciate any help on this.

thanks,

kif

If you insert the document, then it is imbedded, and clicking on it does nothing (unless you use a button and the script step open URL, and have the file path available to the file).

If on the other hand, you use the option when inserting the document into the container field "[color:blue]Store only a Reference to the File" then double clicking on the Container should open the application that created it.
