Hi,

Is it possible to create a runtime solution that will act as a front-end application for all users and will access hosted databases from FMServer?

Thanks in advance,

Garry

If you are trying to get round the fact that each user needs a copy of FMP then I am afraid that the answer is no.

If however you have an existing runtime that you wish to use as the front end. I know that this can be opened with a standard copy of FMP and as such if each user has FMP then you might be able to get it to talk to the server

If that's the case, is it possible then to change the 'Filemaker Pro' header located on top of the Menu bar?

I did try to build a runtime, open it on FMP but it won't open the server's hosted file and endup with an error that the file cannot be open because it doesn't belong to the solution.

I do not think that you can get rid of the FM name from the top. Certainly you cannot from within Filemaker but it may be possible with a plug in or other.

Am I having memory problems, or was this setup possible with Filemaker Developer 6 and older? I'm now trying to build a run-time solution that connects to our server to copy some extra data and synchronise, I've added the server adress as a file reference, but the only thing I get in the runtime solution is a 'file not found'.

The manual is dead silent on this. Feature removed after 6 because it cannibalised FM pro licenses? What a pitty, there goes my shop kiosk solution plan A down the drain.

Plan B: figuring out XML synchronisation with FMSA and a runtime solution...
