Newbies kaeferc Posted March 1, 2002 Newbies Posted March 1, 2002 I want to regulate which menus and commands are available to different passwords and am using the FM supplied Access Privileges to do that. I am trying to figure out what commands are available based on the selected check boxes (available commands option; normal, edit only or none). From what I have been reading the available commands in the three categories change based on what is selected above in via the check boxes. Is there a table available that shows this matrix? I am trying to allow printing yet only give the user minimul commnads by selected edit only or none. However when either of those are selected and print records is check the print functionality has been removed?? What gives?? Thanks Chris
danjacoby Posted March 1, 2002 Posted March 1, 2002 That's the way the cookie crumbles. Try adding a "Print" button to the layout(s). It'll work regardless of what menu commands are available, as long as the password allows printing.
Fitch Posted March 3, 2002 Posted March 3, 2002 From the user guide: "Editing Only disables finding, sorting, access to layout mode, and other options."

Essentially these commands set the FMPro Tool Bar (menu) commands. Normal enables all menu commands. Editing Only enables basic editing and entry commands, with the exception being task privileges which are turned off. Almost all menu commands are disabled by None. Hope you find this information useful. It comes from FileMaker Pro 4 Companion, by Maria Langer, published by FileMaker Press. I have found this a useful reference book.
