Character limit in a field

Hi All,

I need to figure out a way to limit the number of characters used in a field.

Once again a pretty easy script I'd think but Im having a rather difficult time.

One option would be the validation tab on the field.... max number of characters and then be mindful if you want the user to be able to override your validation settings or not
