FM8A, FM8.5A

When I try to drag and rearrange my scripts I am getting a screen redraw error. The script that moves is not the one that I am attempting to rearrange. I also see a duplicate name as I am dragging the script.

I am experiencing the same problem on two different computers.

Here is a short movie that shows exactly what is happening:

To clarify,

You noted that you were using both v8 and v8.5, so is this happening in one and not the other, or in both version?

Did you upgraded to 8.0v3

Sorry, I should have also asked:

Is this the only file that this is happening to?

Is this happening on more than one computer (OS).

I tested a couple of other files and the problem did not occur...but... none of my other files have as many scripts as the file that is giving me trouble.

I tried to run a recover on the file but it did not fix the problem.

I think you have narrowed this down to either a corrupted file or a problem with your Hard-drive (or OS),

You can test which it might be, by running the file on a different machine.

BTW, Running the Recover Function on a file will not fix the corruption, it is only only meant to allow you to get to your data (whatever is left of it). The idea is to export it as a text file, and then Import it into a pristine copy of your file.

I know from my testing that it is not hard drive related.

It could be corruption but I would lean toward corruption as a result of upgrading to FM8.5.

The problem occurred around the same time that I upgraded to FM8.5. Just after upgrading I had to resave my original FMA8 kiosk mode file with FMA8.5 to fix "another" bug that was causing kiosk mode to display improperly after upgrading.

FileMaker's kiosk mode implementation is very flakey and behaves inconsistently. FileMaker really needs to spend some time fixing this along with the pitiful script management. The fact that we can still not automatically organize scripts as a built in feature is utterly ridiculous.

I agree that this file is probably corrupted. If you can post a copy of it I'll take a look and see if it acts the same with me. I don't have 8.5 though.

Was this file created in a version prior to v7? Can you walk me through the history of the file if it wasn't originated in v7 or later. You mentioned kiosk in your last post, how did that come about.
