Many to many self join question

Featured Replies

Hi Friends,

I have a layout based on a person table. I would like to connect 2 people together based on a relationship like friend, wife etc. Because each person can have many relationships, I created a join table and linked it to another table occurrence of the person table.

My problem is choosing the second person on my layout. I can enter the type of relationship (saved in the join table) but can't choose or type in a person reaching through that relationship.

Can someone help me with an easy solution that I just can't see? or do I have to do it with a script?

Thanks so much.

Hi again,

I'm going to give this another try, because I really need help on this one. I changed the layout and portal somewhat and it works, BUT... I need to get rid of the serial numbers in the drop down list in the portal. If I do a "show only second field" or "sort by second field" in the value list, it doesn't work.

Here's the new file...

Please help!

Thanks in advance.

First thing - change the full name calc to Text result.

If you don't want to see IDs, define the value list to show values only from second field, AND format the field as pop-up menu.

Thank you sooooooo much!

I figured it was something simple, but I just couldn't see it.

Thanks again!
