Need to have a summary field count records with same extension?

Featured Replies

I have a table that contains information about a phone call.

Things like:

Call Date, Call Time, Duration, Extension #, Hold Time...

Anyway, when I view the information it's in a list view and I can see all the calls in order by Call Date/Time.

I have scripts setup to format the results, and perform searches.. but what I would like to create is a dash board layout.

Something that would be setup to count the number of records that have a given extension. This way I can see at a glance how many calls a given extension has took on the day.

It's kinda of a PIA to search for each extension then write down the summary results in the footer, only to search for another extension and do the same thing.

Hope this can be done.

Your best bet is to use a subsummary part. It will allow you to organize the information by your extension field (or any field). The great thing about a subsummary report is it will allow you to perform a find and produce a report based on the found set. While you could use a self-join relationship using the extension field as the key on both sides and the Count function to total the number of calls, it won't obey your current found set. And, it could slow down as you get more records.
