get ( foundcount ) not working

Featured Replies

I have a calculation field that has nothing in it but "get (foundcount)". I am trying to get the number of found records. I see right in the side bar, found = 5 but the field remains empty. What am i missing?

Remember that the fields should be an unstored calc'field to behave correctly.

I found this tucked away in a neat application by Ray Cologon at Nightwing:

http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/Resources.html

He calls the field cNavText

Here's the calc

Let([

Fc = Get(FoundCount);

Tc =Get ( RecordNumber )];

"Viewing " & Tc & " of " & Fc) &

" records."

It is a calculated field. Result set to text. Do not evaluate is checked. Unstored.

You will get "Viewing XXX of 500 records.

Apply it to your layout as a merge field. It works on any layout without changes.

Check out either PortalFoundSet or PortalNavigation. His work is super. His ideas have saved me countless hours.

That's an awesome calculation! thanks!

I guess I'm just dumb and kept reading that as a checkbox to STORE not to NOT STORE. Thanks guys!
