Is it just me or are Tech support absolutley hopeless if you actually need a real question answered?

Funnily enough, when they couldn't work out an answer to give me they recommended i come to FMforums for help. Ahahaha.

Good job guys, you've been recognised as an authority on FM where FileMaker Tech support can't help.

Lately, I've noticed that a number of articles in the Filemaker Inc. Knowledge base look suspiciously like posts from FMforums (verbatim, in fact). Without due credit, of course.

They could just be normal and say "we're to lazy to tell you how to do anything" and then point people here. Twould be much nicer really.

So that who we have to blame.

To be fair, I found them very good in the early days but I think they now have too many customers using a far more complex product and FMI haven't really addressed the issue of providing decent tech support backup.

At least the people you talk to have actually used the product; they aren't just accessing a problem database as do Micro$oft and MYOB people.

My last contact was extremely helpful until I provided some extra information in an effort to get the problem solved. Haven't heard a thing since!

I had that twice -- they said they'd look into it and get back me.

You know, i've only called them about 6 times (for small issues, generally reporting bugs -- and they charged me credits for it).. and seriously, they're all nice -- but if they tell you they'll call you back with an answer to your question - from my experience they won't.

Oh well, if i was ever short buying licenses i'd care, as it is, i have another 50 "support" calls in the bank, so maybe i should just call them to annoy them and waste their time and money like they waste mine?

In my opinion, they should remove the cost of the "free" support call from the software cost.
