presley Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Hi, i am running FM 8.5 client on a Mac in my office. i am trying a little test to see if I can import records from a remote Mac server into my FM DB. The remote server does not have any version of FM installed. I have placed a .tab in the Public Folder on the remote server, and on my FM desktop client I have tried to access/import the file on the remote server by: 1) Turned FM network sharing on a selecting file in prefs 2) Using the script import step ....and navigating to the file using the FM steps.....and having FM insert the file path... and doing it manually 3) Trying a variety of alternative file paths...for the hell of it...using the actual server address etc.... I get an error every time ...."cannot locate file" .....or cannot locate "?" It's gotta be EZ ...what am I doing wrong? Jim
IdealData Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 FYI - you don't network sharing on, that's to allow you to share an FM file to other FM clients or access FM files hosted by another FM user or FM server. Potentials: 1. There is something wrong with filename (invalid characters) 2. You are accessing the file through an alias on the remote volume that has not been mounted yet.
