Newbies Gail Ward Posted September 19, 2006 Newbies Share Posted September 19, 2006 Is there any way to sort an address by the street name . . . in otherwords ignore the number in the address field?
Lee Smith
I have not needed to do this, but have you tried the Filter Function, and then sorted the resulting field? A small test I did seemed to do what you wanted. However, if there is a letter in the the street number, you will have a problem with that. Filter ( [color:blue]YourAddressField ; "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz., " ) HTH Lee
LaRetta
Another thing which might work ... create a calculation (text) with: MiddleWords ( theField ; 2 ; WordCount ( theField ) ) ... this will drop the first 'word' which is USUALLY the street number.
