Zero Tolerence Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I'm having some problems with an 8.5 runtime not allowing users to swich which printer they print too. It seems very strange to me, I simply use the Print[] feature and let them control the rest (Internal Application, so I can train them ), its worked fine for a while, now all the sudden, they're default printer is set to Adobe PDF, and even if they change it and click print, it still trys to shoot out a PDF. This seems to be mainly happening on Windows XP Any Ideas?
RPCia Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I have had the same experience except I have only experienced this with networked printers. Any time I try to specify a different network printer other then the windows default printer. It will always print to the default printer. Our shipping dept has 3 printer 2 of which were on shared through the server. I was able to successfully used all 3 by taking them off the server and installing them locally on the computer. I am not using a runtime.
Zero Tolerence Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 That sounds exactly like my problem, those printers that I'm having problems printing to are networked. This is very strange.
Bailey Kessing Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 same problem here. I have reported it to FM when 8.5 was first released, but they still haven't fixed it!!! I work for the government and this is a major issue with us adopting the new version. Bad, very bad.
murtje Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I have a simular problem at one of my customers site. Everytime a users wants to select a network driver, FileMaker prints to the first Non-network printer in the list. The behaviour seems independent of what was the default printer. Koen
Genx Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I've always had problems with FM's printing, nothing ever really saves, about the only thing i've been able to control through scripting is orientation
