jess Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I've read that Filemaker does not support this file type and I should re-export my MDB file to something more FM friendly. However, I don't own a copy of MS-Access, so I can't re-export my file. Any ideas on how to convert a MDB file without owning a copy of MS-Access? thanx...
aldipalo Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I believe you can open an mdb file in excel. File>Open>C:/Program Files/msoffice/Access/Northwind.mdb (Or whatever it may be) Make sure you check Open MDB file. A list of tables will open, check off the table you want and it will bring it into Excel. Save as an excel file and you can now import into FM. HTH
jess Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Unfortunately, the Access database file has about 1.5 million records. MS-Excel tops out at 65,000.
ralph.nusser Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Download the Microsoft Office 2007 Beta. With MS Access open the database table with your 1.5 million records and export TAB delimited. This text can be imported in FileMaker. Happy FileMaking Ralph Nusser
Brudderman Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I believe that the free Open Office will open Access files. James www.james-mc.com
