I have a 57000 record database which works fine in FMP 5 v2. However, when I use Instant Publishing or Custom Publishing (IE 4 or Netscape 4.7) I receive the following error messages trying to view or change a record beyond the 309th record.

Instant Publishing: I can search for and view any record in the 57000 record database but cannot submit any edits for any record beyond the 309th record. Receive the following error message:

"Your attempt to save record failed because of the following...Unknown error number 101".

Custom Publishing (Home Page 3): After 309th record receive message:

"Record not found".

This happens in several large databases. FMP works fine...web publishing doesn't.

Vaughn:

Applied the patches. Same problem exists. Cannot view and/or edit any record beyond the 309th record (regardless of instant or custom publishing). Can add a record no matter how large the database.

Hmmm how big is the resulting web page that Web Compnion is returning?

If you change the custom format file to return only a tiny string from each record, what happens? Is the page trying to find all of the records at once?

Exactly what process is happening when the error occurs?

Are you on Mac or Windows?

I am using Windows version (on Windows 95). I am now using IE 5.5 to view. A copy of the 57000 record database works fine in FMP 4 (both custom and instant).

The record has 5 fields, total 32 bytes per record. Very small. Tried your suggestion but no change.

Here is what happens:

In custom mode: I cannot view or edit any record beyond the 309th. Get message record not found.

In instant mode: I can view any record in the 57000 record db but cannot edit the record. Get error 101 when I do.

I am using the latest version of the web plug in.

When you say you cannot view the record, how are you doing it? I mean, do you have a results page that lists all records, or are youflipping through them one at a time and suddenly it stops working...

Instant Mode: I can see all of the records in both table view and form view. I cannot edit any record past the 309threcord in form view.

Custom Mode: I can see all the the records in table view. I cannot see any record beyond the 309th record in form view much less edit the record.

This is true for two separate databases, one with 1751 records and the other with approx. 57000 records.

Both databases work fine when redone in fMP4. No problem with FMP4 and web.

All of this is not a problem because I do not currently serve up the databases with the web companion. Both databases work just fine when used normally.
