Ladys Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Hello, we have fm database with all our company emloyees. In each record, there is also field Category and SubCategory. I would like to be able to print list of all emploees sorted by Category and Subcategory. But we are changing these Category and SubCategory often, so is it somehow possible to soft it manually? Like if I can somehow sort Categories and SubCategories and print it?
Lee Smith Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 (edited) You have to sort Manual List by hand (i.e. hard coded in the Value List Box). You should look at changing the structure to Field Data instead. For more on this, Open the Online Help (with FileMaker open, and search for Defining a value list for data entry Lee p.s. I should have also suggested that you search this Forum for Conditional Value Lists, aka Dynamic Value List, as these seem a candidate for that. And that I moved this topic to the proper Topic of Value Lists Edited October 23, 2006 by Guest p.s.
John Mark Osborne Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I would also suggest like at subsummary parts to help you better organize your records in categories and sub-categories.
Ladys Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 Lee and John, thank you both for your suggestions. I will try it, and will let know if I was successful. Now, I have another important question. I know, probably I should create a new Topic, but this is just quick question: Is it possible to add somethig like attribut to the field? For ex.: I have field "Phone Number" and would like to have check box "Hidden" next to it. When I check this Hidden box, this number will not print. In one record, I have 8 fields for phone numbers, and would like to be able to hide any of these. Thank you so much for your help.
