Dialog Box + wildcards

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a question about using wildcards. I'm new to filemaker so I don't know what the notation is to use them.

I have a scripted "find" function. What I'm looking to do is to use a wildcard so that if you don't enter the name exactly it will still go to the record.

Ex: Record name is "January Inventory"

the user would just enter "JAN" and it would go to the January Inventory record.

if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

thanks

If you go to the FM help section and type 'Finding text and characters' you will come across the wildcards. However in your example, you can just set the field to 'JAN' and it will find it because it will search for any partial matches as well as default.
