Using hyperlinks in field

I have searched the forums looking for a complete answer to my question, but I can't seem to find one. I read the "embedded links" topic and the answer was not clear to me.

Here is what I would like to do.

I want users accessing my database via web browser (the database is published with the web companion plug-in)to be able to click on a URL link that will take them to a PDF file for downloading. I have the impression from many of the posts that this is not possible without using CDML. Is this true? I need to keep this simple without a lot of custom tweaking. So to summarize: is there anyway to have a clickable URL reference from a web companion published database?

Thank you soooooo much!

you need to go to CDML, after the first couple of humps it gets fairly easy to do what you need, especially with this forum. We've used fields that download PDF's often so i say GO FOR IT!

That's all from me.
