November 6, 200619 yr Hi I've had a little search around but can't find a definitive answer to this one. Is it OK to set up a value list and receive entries to that list on the same field? It seems to work fine but just wanted to check that it was good practice. So when you click on the field you can either choose from the drop down list, or you can type in a new entry. November 6, 200619 yr I've always looked at value lists as static options that tend not to change and therefore makes data entry easier and creates less data entry errors. If you set up a value list and allow continual upgrades and changes you are leaving the apllication open to user input and IMHO believe it defeats the purpose. Again, that's just my opinion. Al

November 6, 200619 yr It MIGHT be good practice, depending on what exactly it's used for. The danger is you'll end up with five different spellings of the same value.
