Searching on count() field

Featured Replies

I have created a field that counts hits from a related table, that works fine. BUT, i cant search on the field, it just gives me the result that all matches... The count field is not stored cause it is going to change, does that have anything to do with it? And what can I do to make it work?

Regards

Jocke

Hi, Jokez.

Why you can't search? It must work. Can you tell detailes?

My field counts how many searchwords a picture have. The filed gives me the correct number but when I whant to search for example all pictures with <5 searchwords it gives me all... and thats NOT correct.. hope that helps.

Well it can't be stored, due to the relation involved, but a quick test showed me that as long as the field is an aggregate function and not a Summary function will it behave, the point is that a summary field has no access in findmode ...so it isn't you problem either.

No - the problem must be that the Aggregate function delivers it's value as text, and not as number - and by it produces seemingly wrong results!

I have it like a aggregate function and the result is numbers.. still no search... :

What updaters are you using on your vs. 8? Are all machines updated? Is Server using the latest update? 8.0v1 had issues searching on unstored calcs - always returning all results. Also, are you using a mix of 8 versions with 7? This produced some problems as well.

The server is 8.0v2 Im searching from my FM Advanced 8.0v1, is that the problem?

That could be the problem. Update both to the latest revs.
