Kevin Cheesman Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 In MS Access I can create a table of dates. I then join this to my bookings to give me a subform (portal) which dispalys free and booked dates. Using this method makes it very clear what dates are free and what dates are booked. Is there a way to do this in Filemaker?
Ferrell Beleshko Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Kevin If I am clear on your question you do the exact same thing in FileMaker; provided your using FileMaker 7, 8 or 8.5. Create a new Table in the FM file "dates" and join it by a constant (either calculate 1 or auto enter 1) and connect it to the same field with the same content in the Parent table. Alternatively you can do a "X" (cross-predicate or cross-join) just make sure the Child field in the predicate of the relationship contains a value.
Kevin Cheesman Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Hi, So how do I generate the dates? In access I designed a form that had 'date from' and 'date to' fields. I entered my date range, clicked a buttton and then got a table with just incrimental dates. So, I could, and did run this utility to create 365 records that I joined to my booking table and got a great view of my booked a free dates. A free date would just have the date and no other data. Hope this is clear for you.
