Newbie question: Is there a SIMPLE way to create a script to move the cursor from one open Filemaker 8.0 window (different unrelated databases) to the next open window WITHOUT SPECIFYING THE NAME OF THE FILE. I would like to be able to move with one keystroke from one open window to the next--and ultimately back to the one I started from--in the manner of alt-tab between open windows in applications that create separate task bar tabs for each. Thanks.

Can't thank you enough for getting back to me. I've imported the Alt-Tab script you sent me into my database, but I can't get it--or the original--to work. Must be doing something wrong.

Do you have it as your second script in the scripts window?

The Ctrl-2 is the keyboard shortcut to run the second script under your scripts menu. Ctrl-1 would run the first, Ctrl-3 would run the third, etc etc.

Carl wrote me the following email:

"Thanks so much for sending me the ALTTAB.FP7 file. I truly appreciate the help. I discovered last night that the script works only with multiple open copies of the same file. I need to have the script function the same way, but with open copies of multiple (different) files. I’ll try tinkering with the script today. Again, thanks a million for the suggestion. It is truly appreciated."

But, after reading the other posts which point out that the feature already exists, the fixed file I am going to post seems to be pointless except as a learning tool. So, I am going to post it anyhow. I guess I should have figured there was a keyboard command to switch between files. You learn something new every day.

BTW, the only change to the file is unchecking the option in the Select Window script step for "current file only".
