We have run into this problem since version 7 of FM.

We are running windows XP machines and when we close FM and then come back later and try to start it again , most of the time we need to go into the task manager and stop the filemaker which is still running as a process., This is happenning on about 10 machines. Anyone have a solution or has anyone experianced this problem?

Yep. I've noted a couple of causes:

1. A plug-in. For me it was an older version of SMTPit from CNS. I upgraded to a later version and that fixed the problem.

2. The other cause was EXIT APPLICATION called from within a script. As you said, it would appear to close yet the Windows Task Manager would show that it was still running. I *think* that it was fixed in versions 8.0 & 8.5

We run smtp-it from cns so I will give that a shot !! We are running 8.5 so I dont't think they have fixed it yet!
