Daryl Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 In FM Pro 6, is it possible to execute a script by exiting a field? I want to test the field data and based on the test, execute a script. Thanks, Daryl
Lee Smith Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 This topic has come up several times in the past. Do a search for your key words +Script +Exit +Field should provide several hits. Bottom line, there are two ways (if I remember correctly) to do this; Use a Plugin, check these two sites: http://www.wmotion.com/ http://troi.com/software/index.html Or a loop script. HTH Lee
Daryl Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Hi Lee, Thanks for the feedback. However, the search did not reveal anything relevent nor did I find anything on the web links you provided. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by running a loop script. If I could run a loop script, I should be able to run any script, not just a loop. Let me try again and be a little more specific: I have a checkbox field that when checked will return "1" and when not checked is Null. I want to run a script as I click out of the checkbox field to test if the checkbox field is checked or not and then run a script based on that status. Daryl
comment Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Why don't you make the checkbox field itself a button that runs a script. The script would test the field, reverse it and proceed accordingly.
Lee Smith Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I'm not sure how to respond to this. I see your self described skill level as Advance. Is this correct? HTH Lee
Genx Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Either Way, If you do want to use a plug-in, try DoScript, zippScript or EventScript -- search any on google.
Daryl Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Lee, are you asking this because anyone who is an advanced user should know this or what's your point? Daryl
Daryl Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Oh, that should work. Thanks for the simple answer. Daryl
Søren Dyhr Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 are you asking this because anyone who is an advanced user should know this or what's your point? Yes this is a FAQ, so copying your skills from other computerized skills, which very well might be excellent doensn't seem justified here, where we all have seen this question to the point of exhaustion and more often a biased one based on assumtions attempted transfered from other similar tools, having triggers as cardinal issues. --sd
Daryl Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 Wow, a simple question with a simple answer which another user supplied. As you can see, I'm not a frequent poster here so I appologize for asking such a stupid question. By the way, it's working great now! Daryl
Lee Smith Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I was trying to judge the detail I might need to go into in my response. I did not mean it to sound like a put down, or anything. Skill levels are controlled by the member, and we have no way of judging it until after we have seen a few posts. I'm glad that the solution provided works for you, that is the main reason we are here. Lee
