I have FM 8 Advanced and am looking to produce a stand alone program. [color:red]I was told a long time ago you had to purchase another software package and it was about $800.00. Is this still true? Reading some of the forum post it appears that FM8 Advance can produce a stand alone program.

You can create a stand alone Runtime solution with your FM8 Advanced. (Check the product documentation)

As for the diff between FM8 and 8.5, you should check the FileMaker website but the major upgrades are Web Viewer, Object Handling, and universal Binary for Macs
