Ben Ball Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I need to change to default filepath that holds databases on filemaker server. The wonderfull IT department has chosen to make E:/ drive the storage area so I need to hold my databases in E: drive. How can I change this?? As you may see on the attachment.. I have added an additional path but I can't seem to open the databases that I have put in the E: drive location... Any Ideas??
Genx Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 ... The default path is a subdirectory of the FMS install so you can't really change that unless you re-install it to the E drive, which the IT department more than likely don't wan you doing... SO, you'll have to trouble-shoot, how is your directory structured within the database folder (not that it should necessesarily matter)... Please go on further regarding not being able to "open" the databases in the e driv... you are referring to opening them via the FMS admin tool yes?
IdealData Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 The default database folder is fixed. As a simple test put your databases in the default folder and see if they will open then.
Ben Ball Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 Thanks for the replies. Its not showing up when I go into the Filemaker server area and "connect"..... The only files shown are that in the default folder.... I can't seem to show and connect to files in the E: drive
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Your extra folder syntax is correct and has been accepted as a valid path. So the issue must lie somewhere else. First, you may need to restart the FileMaker Server service after adding this extra folder. Just the service, not the server. When you do that, these files should open automatically. be sure that they have the Extended Privilege fmapp privilege bit set. Steven
