Footer Printing

Featured Replies

Hello,

my problem is i have an invoice page, the set up is

title header

body

trailing grand summary

now what i want is to have a payment slip that the client can cut off and return with there payment. so i have made this slip and put it into a title footer section. but it prints.

title header

body

title footer (my payment slip)

trailing grand summary

so i changed it to a footer section, the problem is some of the invoices print over 2 pages so i now have 2 payment slips.

anyone tell me where i am going wrong

thanks

RT

Trailing grand summaries CANNOT come AFTER Title Footer.

An ordinary footer prints on every page.

Check your layout setup carefully.

have checked and if the invoice is printed on 1 page it looks good but when the invoice prints across 2 pages, the summary is the last to be printed. wierd i know but it is there. juggled and jiggled but still it persists.

If I understand your problem correctly you are using the title footer so your payment slip will only print once. But that means it will always print on the first page even if the document ends up being two pages long.

What you could do would be to have FileMaker count the number of pages, save the number in a global field, and make the entire payment slip into a calculation that will only appear if the number of the current page equals the number in the global field. That would always put it on the last page.

thanks for your answer, just going to debug my brain and start on your solution, i understand most of what you said but a bit confused on the calculation bit i guess it would be a "if" or a "get" calculation. thanks for your reply

Okay i have achieved this, but is was not easy, in fact a developer had to do it for me, and i would have never been able to do this on my own i just wish FM8.5ADV, had a setting that would allow me to put the footer on the last page of a report, maybe an idea in FM9 when it arrives. 7 fields with calculations is not fun. :tears:
