Custom homepage images location

Featured Replies

I have created a custom homepage for IWP. I placed the revised "iwp_home.html" file in the FM Advanced "Web Publishing/IWP" folder but I have no idea were to put the support images. It looks like they belong in "fmi/iwp/res/images/" based on were the current images are, but cannot find that directory. Please help I'm pulling my hair out on this one!!

It works fine for me if the images are in the same folder as the iwp_home.html file. If you have a lot of images and they are in a Graphics folder then you need to make sure your relative links are correct, but basically they go where the iwp_home.html file goes.

Thats one of the first things I did, it would seem to make sense to put them there but doesnt work for me. When I do a find for "res" or "fmi" I still am unable to find those directories.

Tom; My setup has the iwp_home.html file in the FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced/Web folder, not in a FM Advanced "Web Publishing/IWP" folder. Can you view your home page, just not the graphics? Have you tried testing by putting a single graphic image at the same level as your iwp_home.html file and making sure the relative link is set properly for that? Do you want to post a screeen shot of your FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced/Web folder?

“Can you view your home page, just not the graphics?” I can view the home page and the graphics but need to revise the graphics.

“Have you tried testing by putting a single graphic image at the same level as your iwp_home.html file and making sure the relative link is set properly for that?” Yes

“Do you want to post a screen shot of your FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced/Web folder?” Yes see attached pdf below...

The "iwp_Home.html URL" screen shot shows the url that comes up in the browser. As you can see the graphics show up fine. all I want to do is edit the images but I cant locate them! arrrgghhh!!!

The "iwp_Home.html Location" screen shot shows the location of the iwp_home.html file on the FM Server.

The "Path to images" screen shot shows were the images are supposedly stored. "fmi/iwp/res/images/" I have tried everything to find this directory (invisible file searches with File Buddy and other show invisible apps, going through the library, system, home directory, FM Apps packages etc.) and have been unsuccessful, I even tried creating the "fmi/iwp/res/images/" path in the same location as the “iwp_Home.html” file.

I would like to try searching for the files using the terminal but don’t know how.

I think I’m going insane.

This looks as if you are using FileMaker Server, which is out of my league! I'm not sure if there are different requirements, my FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced sits right under the root Application folder.

The "Path to images" screen shot shows where the images are supposedly stored.

I think the fmi/iwp/res/images is some sort of FMP internal link for the images, and you should just put the images in the same directory as your iwp_home.html page - but I cannot claim any expertise in this area, I just know I managed to get it working on my [presumably] simpler FMP 8.5 Advanced system.

If I were debugging this problem on my machine, I'd put a trivial test.html file in the iwp_home.html directory, with a link to a single image. Then I'd drop the test.html icon onto Safari and see if it works. Then (assuming it works) I'd grab the 'master' iwp_home.html page from the FMP Install CD, and put it in the right folder, and confirm it works, and I'd add a single image, and confirm it works, and carry on.

Sorry I don't have something more concrete.

Thanks David, I'm in training all week so dont have time to do too much with it now (Probable a good thing), but I will continue to pick at it.

Anyone else has any suggestions?

On a Mac, you can get to the iwpres folder by holding the control key, clicking on the FM Web Publishing icons and choosing view package contents. Then you go into contents - resources - fmi - iwpres - images.

I just replaced the iwp_banner image with my own image, renamed to iwp_banner, and it worked fine. I also replaced the iwp_auth.html and iwp_home.html with my modified pages in the iwpres folder.
