Mike J Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I've been developing a solution for a couple weeks now after taking a hard look back at the philosophy of FMP. After some very constructive critism, reading, re-reading and testing I've made an almost functional multi-user database. I have a question on an inconsistancy I've found in the FMP User books published by FMP 7: Lane, Bowers, Love, Moyer FMP 8: Lane, Bowers, Love After reviewing the section "New Record Only" relationships in Working with Portals I've found a relationship problem that I can't see to figure out which is correct or if it doesn't matter if your working with FMP 8-8.5. FMP 7 states (pg452) primeID_neighborhood-----[foreignID_Temp FMP 8 states (pg478) _kp_neighborhood-----[__kf_neighborhood The premise, if you don't have these examples, is to use this relationship to create a new record in the related portal without scripting while using field definitions to auto "clear" the temp field upon autoenter the __kf_neighborhood field. As you can see from the above two examples, directly from the book, have different relationships. Is this because FMP 8 is different with this respect to FMP7? Whish is correct?). MJ
