Yearly Report/Layout by Month

I have a set of records that I would like to group by date. For instance all records with a particular date grouped and counted. So the final report will reflect how many records in Jan, Feb, Mar etc.

How does one begin to accomplish this?

You will need to have a summary report grouped by month.
