March 7, 200718 yr Hi - I have an interesting issue: We have one machine that is running Windows 2003, Quicktime 7.1.5 and Filemaker Pro 8.0v1 that can export pdfs with images fine. We have another machine that is running Windows XP, Quicktime 7.1.5, and Filemaker Pro 8.0v1 that can export pdfs - but the images are missing? Has anyone here run into this issue? I did some searching in the filemaker knowledge base, but I didn't see anything. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks - Nathan
March 7, 200718 yr Are you running XP SP2? Are the two computers running the same DB? Is the DB local on each computer or is it hosted on one or a server? The more details you can give the better.
March 8, 200718 yr Author The two computers are connecting to the same DB - and the DB is hosted on the server. As far as I can tell the only differences are hardware and the OS version of each computer. OS is Windows XP Version 2002 SP2 Edited March 8, 200718 yr by Guest
March 8, 200718 yr You're running FMP 8.0v1? Update to 8.0v3, the problem might well be fixed. Lots of other problems were.
March 8, 200718 yr Author I looked at the "bugs fixed list" and didn't see this bug listed as fixed. Will issue a software change request to our IS dept, and will know if the FMP8.0v3 fixes this issue within the next week or so.. (
March 8, 200718 yr I suggest you try and narrow it down as much as possible by trying to print a PDF from another program. If you get the same problem then it is not with FMP. I assume that when you view what you are going to print to a PDF in Preview mode everything looks right?
March 8, 200718 yr Author I am using the save function in Filemaker Pro 8 - not printing. File/Save/Send records as/PDF... Menu Edited March 8, 200718 yr by Guest
March 8, 200718 yr in a way, you're printing. Don't you go to a report and then use the Save as PDF? Can you add a preview script step right before the Save as PDF so that you can see if everything is there, like suggested?
March 9, 200718 yr Author The image data is there when I save. I can see it - and that is what is so strange. Wonder if it's an XP thing..
March 9, 200718 yr Are you looking at the report in Preview mode when you say you see everything? What you see in Browse mode could change because of your scripting or if the actual report that you output to a PDF is another layout. Preview is the only way to see exactally what the output will be as long as you change to Preview mode right before the Save As PDF script step and after any other scripting. Have you tried printing to a PDF from another program yet?
