email program for mac

Featured Replies

It used to be that you had to use Claris Emailer to have FMPro send mail. Is that still the case?

All I have is a v1.0 Emailer and it's compressing things and I don't know how to set the default to not compress.

Help!

FMP on wintel is fully MAPI compliant, but on Mac the only support you get for email is ClarisEmailer and Eudora frown.gif

pretty bad, but there is an easy workaround. pretty cool smile.gif

create a calculation text field.

formula for the field is:

"mailto:" & email & case(not IsEmpty(cc), "?cc=" & cc & "?subject=" & subject & "?body=" & body

in your script use Open URL, asking to supply URL from the field you've just created. and thats it! it will use any email client configured as default in Internet control panel.

there are limitations to this. there is no attachments, and messages get qued in your email client, not sent.

appleScript is supported by most email clients on the Mac, and can be used to then send messages. on a PC if you are on exchangeServer, the email will get sent, not qued.

hope this helps

Man, that is way cool. You have my undying gratitude.

I can now justify keeping FMP4 for another year or so with that little work-around!
