I can't get a basic layout graphic to show on the web version of my database? A simple circle won't show (created with the FM tool) or any other pretty things I added "Unless I change them into a graphic in say photoshop" and cut and paste it in... Is it me or what am I missing...

Have I lost my mind?

Just a quick general question about IWP -- globals... the guide says the following:

If you’re designing layouts specifically for searching, note that web users can’t enter search criteria for summary, global, or container fields.

Does that mean users can't interact with global fields at all?

Users can interact with global fields. I use them for portal filters in an IWP page.
