Hi everybody

I have placed a file in Filemaker server, but when I try to access it from a remote computer it does not show up in the open remote command.

There are several other files in there which all show under open remote.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong

The tick box "do not show in open remote" is definetely unticked

Thanks very much in advance

Hello

Thanks for your answer

when you say "definetely, successfully being hosted by the server correct" what exactly does that mean and how do I check it

I had look at the server troubleshooting as suggested

and the suggestions were to compact the files and try again - but what do I compact them as.

The other suggestion is to check whether my server allows a definite number of files to be hosted but how do I do that and if that were the problem why is it that I have been able to copy the file to the server data files

What would be useful here is if someone could give the correct procedure to move a file to the server - I basically dragged it into the server from a different machine ie an alias

Hope all that makes sense

Meaning, when you are using the FMS Admin Console, and are trying to open the files, do they open properly... Do the file show up as Normal status??

I am assuming that you have put it in the correct either default directory or specific path that you have designated in the Admin tool.

Hello

The status did not show up as normal it showed up as closed in the FM console

I have now opened it and it is showing in open remote

Why does it always have to be something ridiculously simple.

Anyway big thanks to Mr V for his patience

John
