You'll need to convert the file to FMP v3 or FMP v5 format BEFORE trying to convery it to FMP v7 format.

Probably the easiest way is to find a copy of the FMP 6.0 Trial version, and install that to perform the initial conversion. It might still be available on the FMI web site.

Why?

you can open v3 directly in v8.5. I do this all of the time.

I usually just drop the v3 file onto the FileMaker 8.5 icon.

IMHO, its just better to create a new fresh solution in 8 and then if there is anything needed from the file done in 2, import the data into the new structure.

Lee: the file is FMP 2. Getting it from FMP 2 into FMP 3 format is the hard part.

: Oops

I didn't read the original post, so I missed that. That's what I get for jumping in late.

My apologies to anyone that I might have misled.
