HELP finding Duplicates between 2 tables

Firstly, I'm completely new to FMPro (3 weeks) and I'm using FMPro 6 (hoping for approval for an upgrade real soon now !!)

The Situation.

I am building a Contact DB that will manage three different types of contacts: Sales Leads, actual Sales and a comparison between those two to list the leads that actually bought (Conversions).

I started by creating three tables (Leads, Sales, Conversions) but found that I could not find a way to compare the contents of Leads to Sales to find duplicates (this is the primary purpose of this database). So, I created one table and dumped everything in and used a self-join to find duplicates. I also added a Contact_Type field so I could tell them apart. I have a lot of duplication with regards to name and address information.

As for me...

I'm very tech savy and have been doing mountains of reading to get up to speed. I have subscribed to VTC.COM and have completed their FMPro 6 training and am going through their 4 course FMPro8 training. I have read, start to finish, the Filemaker 6 Starter Guide from FM Inc and have ordered Filemaker Pro 6 Bible but am still waiting for it to arrive.

Any assistance will be GREATLY appreciated !!

Thanks in advance ;-)

Do you want to find the duplicates in the one table or the two tables?

jhogue: why are you spending your money and time on an old version? FMP 7 and especially FMP 8.5 are soo much better, and you're going to have to un-learn a lot of the FMP 6 stuff. And it's about time for a new version to be released soon too.

Is there a question in your original post? I can't find one. ;)
