GreenPilgrim Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I need a timed backup script for 5 big files, but I don't want to close the files. I want them saved daily at a given time as compressed copies to an external server. Is this possible without closing the file? I've tried backup software but it's undependable and has too many quarks. I'm thinking a script may be all I need. Any help is appreciated. Mitzi [email protected]
Ocean West Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 you need server to perform backups on live databases.
GreenPilgrim Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 I have a 5 license FMP 8 basic. Can I upgrade one of those license to server, and if so, how much will it cost me?
IdealData Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 There is no upgrade from FM Pro to FM Server - you must buy the FM Server.
GreenPilgrim Posted June 23, 2007 Author Posted June 23, 2007 This is a followup to this old post. Since asking this question, I found a backup solution using BackJack. It backs up my files daily without a hitch and is costing us $17 a month, which for me is a small price to pay for not having to mess with backups anymore, unless I just want to keep an extra copy for myself. It backs the files up while they are open. The software isn't elegant, but it is dependable and so far, trouble free.
