I am a FM developer in a firm that does not officially approve FileMaker's use. I am tolerated because, so far, they cannot do what I can do.

A question was asked of me by our IT staff that I did not know the answer to. Can FM 8.5 consume web services? I'm thinking yes via the web portal, but I am not certain.

Can anyone elaborate!

"Web services" is a somewhat ambiguous term. For the most common type of Web Service, which is SOAP via HTTP, FileMaker cannot natively do it. However, we can do a very inexpensive custom plugin if you have a specific web service that you need to talk to. You might also want to contact Vince @ http://www.fmnexus.com, I know that he was in development on a generic web services plugin.
