Where to Create php webpages

Featured Replies

HI

I realise this is a really basic question but the answer is not really obvious to me.

I have been using filemaker 4 with web pages and cdml. I created the webpages in dreamweaver then uploaded to the server.

I have now migrated to 8.5 and 8 server advanced. BIG learning curve! I have set this all up on a single server.

My question now is to create the phpwebpages do I actually have to do this on the server?

I have dreamweaver set up on my computer with fmstudio but when I go to create the webpages or site, it does not install the api for php files when I ask it to.

Hi Glenda

No - these can be wherever, though its a good idea if they are in the same network.

Now, in relation to dreamweaver. Have you set up a site yet?

I have been using dreamweaver for years so can set sites etc up, and I have enabled php permision etc in the database. it seems that if I do not have IIS or apache on the machine I am trying to create the webpages it will not allow me to use filemaker api for PHP

You should only require IIS on the FMSA machine and on your actual IIS machine. Your dev machine shouldn't need it (as long as you have a network drive or something mapped to your IIS box).

What exactly does it say when you try to install the api through FM Studio?
