The operators and logical operators do not work as you would expect, in spite of all the examples provided by FileMaker Inc. But then, you have discovered that, haven't you.

The operators and logical operators sometimes can be made to work in "if" statements on format files as a way of displaying selected text, but in a Form Action or Action Link they are a miserable failure.

i have an index, A B C D E etc links with each looking up all records that start with a specific letter.

the problem i have is that if i click on "G" for example, i get things like Gas prices, Garbage, Glue etc... but i also am getting records that don't start with "G" like "Business guide"

is there something i need to add to my CDML code to just look at the first word? i thought that that was what i was doing....

thanks in advance...

See the Puzzled by -lop post a little way below this one

i am meditating on that post, i hope to understand what it means but at the moment it seems a bit cloudy... thanks though...

it seems that there is a way to check the first letter in the field?

Your code looks fine, except for the dashes before "Ascending" and "AND". Try this one:

FMPro?-db=centrica2.fp5&-format=search_resultsINDEX.htm&-lay=indexstart&-sortfield=index%20title&-SortORder=Ascending&-lop=AND&-op=bw&index%20title=G&-find
