manatee Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I am embarrassed to even ask, but I am not finding my answer. Simply, there is the "Open URL" step, and I am adding it to a button. The web address exists in a field, and is formatted correctly. I set the calculation to be the web address field in the "Open URL" step, but in executing, in the browser all I get is local host. Am I missing something, or is FM not able read the URL in the manner I have chosen. Thank you!
Genx Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Turn off the don't show dialog option in the open url step and see what shows up.
manatee Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Thank you for the reply. However, when I do that, all I get is the dialog with a blank field. What I am looking to do is for FM to open the URL that is the field I specified. Any other thoughts??
Genx Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 However, when I do that, all I get is the dialog with a blank field That was the purpose of the exercise. FileMaker shows whatever it's about to open in that field before you continue. If it's blank it means you're not referencing your source field correctly. Should look like YourTable::YourUrLField
manatee Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 I appreciate that, however, all I am doing is inserting the field in the calculation, and the field is a text field. This is what it looks like in the calculation: trustees::trustee_link1 What am I screwing up?
Genx Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Lol, why don't you post a sample file with your setup, that way I can tell you. Is trustees the TO that your Layout is based on? To check go in to Layout Mode -> Layout toolbar -> Layout Setup.
manatee Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 ok...idiot alert. It just so happened that the one record I was testing did not have a url entered! Yikes. So it works now. Thank you for your patience, and help.
