rangebob Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I work at a school and I have an inventory DB. We have several pieces of equipment listed in each room. The second DB is the staff records that from the room number I want to be able to find all equipment and show it on that sheet. If I have a classroom #130 I want to find all of the equipment listed in that room. I attempted to use it even though I assumed it wouldn't work "lookup" by the room # and then show the data but it didn't work (like expected, it shows the first record for every field created. Thanks for any help that can be given.
Fitch Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I'm trying to parse your situation and your question. You have FileMaker 6; one file (Inventory) has a record for each piece of equipment; another file (Staff) has a record for each staff member. Each Inventory record has a room number field; each Staff record has a room number field. You want to view a record in the Staff file that also shows all the related Inventory records. Is this correct? If so, what you need is: - a relationship in the Staff file from Staff to Inventory, related by room number; - a portal on a Staff layout that is based on this relationship.
