shawnj985 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I have created a new runtime solution and the first time i run this on my winxp pc, I am prompted for my user name (my windows user name is automatically entered in the box). So after pressing the ok button, my solution starts. Even though it only does this the first time, is there a way to deactivate this within my database or am I stuck with this?
hbrendel Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 The Username is stored in the registry. The first time there is nothing stored, therefore this dialog appears. (BTW you can enter anything, and never bother again). The registry key is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software FileMaker (7.0, 8.0, 8.5 ...) Preferences User Name The type of this key is REG_SZ I always wrap my solution in an installer and this installer sets this registry key. Other keys that I set beforehand are about the application window width and heigth and the visibility of toolbars. Success!
shawnj985 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Thanks alot. It seems i should get another staller. I'm using Install Creator. What installer are you using?
hbrendel Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) I can't tell you right now. My Windows computer is stored very deeply away in my desk. There are plenty of (free) installer programs available on the web. Most of them can edit the registry. Edit (2 minutes later, I found information on my Mac) I use 'Advanced Installer' http://www.advancedinstaller.com/ Edited June 28, 2007 by Guest
